If you are just browsing the advertisements, it is not necessary to register. However, if you want to post or edit an advertisement, you must register. To do so, follow these simple steps:

1. Click on the "Register" link on the top left corner of the page (in the Header).

2. Read the Terms & Conditions of Service. If you agree to our terms, click "I Agree" at the bottom of the page. If you do not agree, simply browse to another webpage.

3. Enter the Username you would like to use for your advertisement. This can be your first/last name, initials, or other synonym. See "Tips" below for more information.

4. Enter your Email Address. This address will be used to receive your password and email responses to your ad unless otherwise indicated. If you prefer not to publish this address, click No to the display option. However, you must indicate some other means for respondents to contact you in your advertisement if you select No.

5. Enter your business or personal Homepage URL (i.e. http://www.myhomepage.xxx) if you want others to see more info about you or your offering. This can be especially useful if you have a homepage with a picture or more detailed description of your sales items to direct your visitors to.

6. Enter your personal Interests if you want others to know more about you.   

7. Enter your Occupation if you want others to know more about you.

8. Enter your Location, but do so in general terms, such as Saugus, Newhall, etc. Publishing your home address is not recommended. See "Tips" below for more information.

9. If you use the ICQ messenger service, you can enter your ICQ Number. This feature only supports ICQ. AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc., are not supported. For more information about ICQ, visit the ICQ website.

10. Enter a Signature if you so choose. A signature can be a name or slogan. This signature will appear at the bottom of all posts you submit. To avoid repetition, do not enter your Username as your Signature.

11. Click Submit to finish the registration. Your password will be emailed to the address you provided in the form.

12. Once you have received your password via email, you may use the Login link in the header of the Classifieds using your Username and Password to post or reply online to messages. You can change your personal Profile (including your password) at any time by clicking on the "Profile" link in the header. You will be asked for your Username and Password. Once provided, the same registration form will appear with your current information. Edit to your liking, then click Submit to save. A confirmation will be displayed.

To Post an Advertisement

1. Login using your Username and Password.

2. Browse to the category where you would like to place your ad by clicking on the "View and Advertise...[category] link on the main page.

3. If there are other ads posted in the category, each will appear as a separate "topic" on the next page. If there are no posts, click on the New Post icon to the right. An online submission form will appear. Input your specifics and select Submit to automatically post the ad, or Preview Post to see how it will appear before the actual submission. Likewise, you may edit or delete a post by logging in using your Username and Password, making the necessary changes, then clicking Submit.

Tips

1. Always include a way for interested parties to contact you. This can be by email, phone, fax, mail, whatever works best for you. Ads placed without any contact info will be removed from the board.

2. If possible, try to avoid using your proper name and/or home address within an advertisement. Protect your privacy by using an easy to remember alias and a general location. Once interested parties contact you, you can disclose any personal information relevant to the transaction that you are comfortable with.

3. If you do not want to publish your primary email address, try signing up for an alternate mailbox at any number of free email sites. Use your alternate address for receiving inquiries regarding your ad.

4. Be brief and specific when placing your ad. If you have more information about your product elsewhere on the web, reference that with a link to that site's URL in your ad rather than write a very long description.
