Submit It!

City Spectrum welcomes your insights and expertise! To submit your articles, photos, etc, please use the following guidelines (See the specific information regarding posting in the Announcements section below this info. If you do not have access to the equipment/software necessary to submit your articles to us as shown below, please refer to our Additional Services page. For additional specifics, please see our Posting Terms.)

  • Acceptable Text Formats: We request that you send your articles to us in a software-based format: MS Word, WordPad, Word Perfect, Front Page or plain text editor like Notepad. Your articles may also be submitted as a standard HTML or text-based e-mail, provided that you word-wrap to no more than 70 characters per line, use proper formatting and can keep the piece relatively short. If you have web-published articles posted on another site that are your sole property (and not that of the publisher or host) that you would like us to use, we will C+P that content with your emailed permission. We prefer not to link outside of our site to other URLs containing such articles. Please use proper formatting, spelling and grammar checking prior to submitting your work to us. Also, please keep your articles as short and specific to the point as possible. Many studies of online behavior have proven that most people reading information on the Net will lose interest in a particular article faster if it is not concise and more focused than if it were in printed form.
  • Acceptable Photo Format: We request that all photographs be submitted to us pre-scanned and saved in JPEG (.jpg) format. Please do not send BMPs, TFFs, or other large files. Images should be sized appropriately for use on the web. All photos submitted must have a reference number or tagged to a text description of the photo content, placement within your article, and/or author's name, place, etc. If you need to have hardcopy photos scanned and saved to disk, and do not have a scanner, your neighborhood Kinkos or other print or graphics company can usually do this for a reasonable price (good quality scanners are also inexpensive to buy now).
  • Delivery: You may either A) E-mail your material to feedback@cityspectrum.com or B) Mail your material on an IBM-formatted disk to the address shown on the bottom of this page. If you e-mail to us, be sure to attach your document files and/or photos to your email. If you snail-mail (USPS) to us, please be advised that we do not return disks unless accompanied by a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope). Please note: We will reject all scripted files and/or executables without consideration. Limit all submissions to document and JPEG formats.
  • Credits: Our standard policy regarding credit for your articles is to display the author and/or photographer's name and town of residence in the SCV. If you would like your e-mail address included in the credit, let us know with your submission. If you are submitting professional content on behalf of your business, we will add the name of your firm, phone number and e-mail to your article if you so request (great marketing tool). However, your right to disclose company information in a public forum may be restricted by your employer, if you are an employee. So, unless you are the owner, manager, or other big-wig, please consult with your employer prior to disclosing your company's information to us (see also our Posting Terms page).
  • Duration: If your article is "timeless" in the sense that it does not cover a specific event, service or product that expires on a certain date, we will generally keep the article "actively" posted for ninety days to six months from receipt, after which time we may archive it (though it will still remain accessible to those who wish to read it. Archives are created on a per-subject basis, and help keep the site organized). Articles that are time-sensitive will be posted up to, and perhaps a few days beyond the expiration of the subject of the article.

Submissions for the Announcements Section:

Unlike a general submission, our Announcements section is designed to focus attention on a specific event within limited categories. Each announcement consists of a combination of text and a picture. The following guidelines apply to submitting information for this category. If you would like to place an announcement, but do not have access to the equipment and/or software necessary to submit your articles to us as shown below, please refer to our Additional Services page.

  • Acceptable Text Formats: We request that you send your announcement text to us in a software-based format: MS Word, WordPad, Word Perfect, Front Page or plain text editor like Notepad. Your articles may also be submitted as a standard HTML or text-based e-mail, provided that you word-wrap to no more than 70 characters per line. Limit of 100 words per announcement.
  • Acceptable Photo Format: We request that all photographs be submitted to us pre-scanned and saved in JPEG (.jpg) format. Please do not send BMPs, TFFs, or other large files. Images should be sized appropriately for use on the web. Limit one (1) photo per announcement. If you need to have hardcopy photos scanned and saved to disk, and do not have a scanner, your neighborhood Kinkos or other print or graphics company can usually do this for a reasonable price (good quality scanners are also inexpensive to buy now). A brief description of your photo may be included if you would like that to be added under the picture.
